For many types of work in the markets we serve making good products and delivering them on time is not enough. In today’s world, cybersecurity has become an integral component for projects sponsored and run by United States Government agencies like the Department of Defense (DOD) and NASA.

Precision Honeycomb is committed to being on the front lines of the cybersecurity battlefield.  Cybersecurity is a complex topic with many facets that can be a challenge for organizations to manage. We have partnered with a professional, internet services-cybersecurity firm to help us manage this function on an ongoing basis.

Current best practices call for us to be compliant with practices found in NIST SP 800-171. Precision Honeycomb is preparing our business to take the next step in cybersecurity evolution. We have begun the process of achieving the new DOD designated Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).

CMMC is a program intended to assure that companies working on certain DOD contracts have a system in place for properly handling Unclassified Controlled Information (UCI). There are 5 levels of CMMC compliance. Level 1 has 17 basic practices to follow while level 5 has 171 required practices to follow. 

CMMC rollout began in 2020. CMMC rated DOD contracts will begin appearing in 2021 and by the end of 2025, it’s projected that all DOD contracts will have a CMMC requirement for bidders. Precision Honeycomb will be an early adopter of these new, very important standards and is anxious to support Prime and Tiered contractors bidding on CMMC stipulated work.
